As O's get the band back together, what could it mean for the offense?
O's began the Detroit series 25th in MLB in runs per game
BALTIMORE – The Orioles are now really starting to get the band back together, at least the position player portion of our program.
Outfielder Colton Cowser was back last week. Last night, both Cedric Mullins and Jordan Westburg rejoined the lineup and came off the injured list.
Mullins missed the last nine games and Westburg missed the past 38 games. Cowser has played just 10 games all year heading into last night.
O’s offense in 2023: .742 OPS, 107 OPS+, 4.98 runs per game
O’s offense in 2024: .751 OPS, 117 OPS+, 4.85 runs per game
O’s offense in 2025: .691 OPS, 99 OPS+, 3.84 runs per game
It’s kind of go time for the offense.
“Yeah, feel like we have been picking that up for sure the past few weeks,” said Mullins pregame Tuesday. “Let’s say we end up somehow getting similar numbers at the end, it’s just one of those things where you can have the same numbers year after year but find different ways to do it.”
And getting Westburg back should be big.
“It’s huge,” added Mullins. “For Jordan to come up and just kind of relax, he kind of got off to a sluggish start. A lot of guys did. For him to come back to an environment where we are getting some wins under out belt, the morale is there, team chemistry is feeling like it’s there, it’s going to be good for him.”
Westburg, batting just .217 in 23 games heading into last night, said it was hard to be away from the O’s when they were losing so much.
