Can Jackson Holliday handle third base for the Orioles?

Is the club simply throwing too much at a 22-year-old youngster?

I think I may have a minority opinion here and might be out an island. It’s not the first time.

But I think Jackson Holliday would handle third base just fine if we see him play there for the Orioles.

I have heard the arguments against such a move and my first response there is that this “move” has not yet been made. The Orioles are taking a look at Holliday there as he hopefully soon wraps up his minor league rehab games and rejoins the Orioles.

He hasn’t moved positions, yet. And may not.

The Orioles are just trying to add to their options at a position that has obviously been a big problem without Jordan Westburg.

No, Holliday hasn’t “mastered” second base yet, whatever that means. Doesn’t mean he can’t also play at third base to try and help the team, at least in the short term.

Holliday’s defensive metrics at second base last year were not good. He ranked in the bottom five percent in Outs Above Average and bottom 26 percent in arm strength.
