O's game blog: Orioles look for a series sweep today at Camden Yards
They have posted 2-1 and 4-2 wins over the White Sox
The Orioles have scored just six runs this weekend. But they have allowed just three to the Chicago White Sox and now they can sweep this three-game series today.
Not only have they not had a series sweep this season, they have not had a chance at one by winning the first two of a three-game set until now.
The Orioles (21-36) have won five of their past seven games. Chicago (18-40) has lost five of six and 11 of the last 15. The White Sox are 1-4 on a six-game road trip that ends today.
Saturday was another day of solid O’s pitching. And no we have not been able to say that much this year.
Baltimore pitchers, in winning five of seven, have allowed just seven runs and 33 hits with a 1.40 ERA in the five wins in this span.
Over the last seven games, O’s starting pitchers have an ERA of 2.43. Over the five wins only, O’s starters have an ERA of 0.88, allowing three runs over 30 2/3 innings. They have six walks and 27 strikeouts in this stretch.
Baltimore is 17-5 against the Chisox since 2022 and is 8-3 at Oriole Park against Chicago in this span.
On the mound today, O’s right-hander Charlie Morton (1-7, 7.09 ERA) will make his eighth start of 2025. Morton allowed two runs over six innings Monday against St. Louis.
Over his past four games, Morton is 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA. In this stretch he has allowed four runs and eight hits over 15 1/3 innings with four walks to 17 strikeouts with an 0.78 WHIP.
Righty Adrian Houser (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his third start for the visitors. In two 2025 games, Houser has thrown 12 scoreless innings allowing just five hits. He went six scoreless each versus the Mariners and the Mets.
The O’s are off Monday and then begin a six-game road trip to the West Coast at Seattle on Tuesday night.
