Well it looked great when Rogers pitched so well. But team otherwise seems about flat as a pancake since Saturday saved for that one inning last night. Team on fumes, I guess, needing that off day.
Dang, almost Holliday. Kid really has more pop than some may think, almost going oppo off this guy. Tomorrow, I have a rare solo podcast coming and spent some time today while recording that talking about Jackson. Be looking for it tomorrow morning in this space.
Note from O's PR about the back-to-back-back HRs last night ---
Marked the first time the Orioles have achieved the feat since August 6, 2017 vs. Detroit (Schoop, Davis, Mancini, 1st inning). Entering last night, the only other time the Orioles had hit three straight home runs to take the lead in the seventh inning was April 30, 1961 (G2) at Detroit (Gentile, Triandos, Hansen, 7th inning), per the Elias Sports Bureau.
Well seems like a quick hook but also keep in mind he has only been back off the IL a few games. Pitched first at Aberdeen and then at Norfolk. Five innings, 65 pitches, last game at AAA.
I don't know, maybe all those tough games and heat last week and now took something out of this team. They look so lackluster for the most part since beating Fried. Can't continue very long said Captain Obv.
One scout I once asked about Brandon Young I said - My take is his stuff is not overpowering or overwhelming. But all pitches are pretty decent and the command and pitchability are strong. He agreed with that assessment.
If the Orioles were still trying to win then they wouldn't be giving extra rest to a starting pitcher. Sugano would have been on regular rest. If you are really trying to win you dont rest a starter for an extra day. Sometimes you have to go the extra mile when times are desperate. Instead we want to rest more.
That was a nice start for Young, he sure looked relaxed and threw quality pitches.
Team just looks gassed at this point. Regroup for Friday, nothing else to do.
Check out my latest podcast tomorrow morning if you can.

Have the Orioles come back from 4+ runs down to win this year?
I don't know. They almost did last night, no?
But they didn’t win. I wonder what the biggest defect has been this year they have overcome to win, not just be competitive.
Don't know without going thru each box score.

They ended a stretch of 16 games in 16 days going 8-8, but have lost 4 of their past 5. Need to step on the pedal big starting this weekend.

An Oriole pitcher on the IL? That never happens. lol.
Maybe that was discussed before the start. Young didn’t look surprised at the early hook.
I was actually encouraged by this one more than his last two. Yeah he had to know he wasn't throwing 85 or more.
Encouraged that Young attacked the zone and did not walk anyone.

Needed to bury that changeup on 0-2 and did not. 3-0 might be enough already.

Nice changeup there by Young. That pitch, per the data we can access, was really good for him on the farm this year.
Yeah, he’s got nice stuff. I think he could be better than Povich.
He looks better then the Slim we've seen recently.
Once again, readers can ask questions all game and make comments, he said, fingers crossed.
Holy heck, that changeup to Jackson. Yikes.
At least we broke up the no hitter. Always loved Jacob Webb. I still don’t understand why we let him go.

This game is over
Really
Yep. Does it look like I’m wrong?
Really over
