Should the Orioles be "selectively aggressive" at this year's trade deadline?
Will club be sellers in certain situations?
I heard a take on the radio recently that the Orioles needed to be very aggressive this summer at the trade deadline. I disagree – I think they need to be “selectively aggressive.”
Yes, be ready and prepared to make moves but I also see the Orioles trying to win again next year and pending what happens between now and then maybe be in a much, much better position to do it then.
This season got away from the Orioles fast. The combination of offseason moves that have mostly not panned out, numerous injuries in the majors and minors, player underperformance while some players have taken steps back led to what we’ve seen – a disaster.
Can they salvage this year?
Depends what you mean by that. If you mean make the playoffs, probably not. If you mean get to the .500 mark, even that is going to be a challenge.
