I am glad you are here as I start today on Substack.
Having readers and O’s fans from just about everywhere follow me around over the last month or so has been so rewarding. You found me in my brief move to BaltimoreBaseball.com. While I very much enjoyed my stay there, there was always a strong chance that this would be my future destination.
There are many outlets (and talented reporters!) that do a wonderful job covering the Orioles and I am just glad fans consider finding me as part of their enjoyment in following this team.
What will be in this space for the season ahead?
Glad you asked!
One aspect of Substack I very much like is the ability to interact with fans, get comments and post stories along with audio and video posts. Also, the possibility (likelihood really) to host chats with readers.
This Substack will always feature free content. But it will also feature a subscription space for that group of readers to get even more and I promise to make it all I can for fan enjoyment, interaction, and coverage you will appreciate and enjoy.
Over the next few months as we get into the new season I will lean into what I already (hopefully!) do well in firing off plenty of O’s opinions and takes on the day-to-day happenings for the team, but also with a healthy and at times heavy dose of stories on the minors and player development.
Readers have often remarked they enjoy when I write more about a farm player they may not yet know too much about. I pledge to keep those stories coming, including one tomorrow. Let’s start early with that!
As I hopefully build a base of readers here, I may consider bringing the old O’s game blog over here to take in-game comments when the 2025 season begins.
Another aspect I love about Substack is there is no handbook for what stories I can or should do. I can try new things here, write more stories about things maybe behind the scenes and potentially take readers places I never have before. I expect to share some personal stories about my coverage, my younger fan days loving the Orioles at Memorial Stadium and other aspects.
There are surely stories and aspects of Substack I have even yet to consider but will.
This space will evolve as we both (me and the readers) learn more about it and what we like and don’t. Not going to be afraid to fail by trying new ideas and stories that could be great in this space. We’ll find out together.
I plan to be active in Substack notes, so if that is something you need to get up to speed with, please do as I will have material there often as well. It is sort of Substack’s version of X or Twitter.
I am really intrigued to see where this journey takes me and enter this space with the excitement one gets from a new beginning.
Once again, there will always be some free material in this space. But I also hope you will consider supporting my work via a paid subscription and any readers that take that route will have my huge thanks.
Leave your email address so you can be alerted when new stories appear here. I will post often and likely just about every day and probably have new posts each morning.
Thanks for checking me out on Substack.
Happy to have a place to hang out again!
So happy I can follow you again.
