O's hitters night need to adjust what had worked well for several seasons

The Orioles will have a new manager next season – Craig Albernaz will be introduced to O’s fans and media tomorrow at Camden Yards – and they seem headed for at least two new hitting coaches too.

Some changes and tweaks might be in order for the Orioles and their approach to hitting in recent years.

It’s an approach that, for a while, was working well big time. On the farm the O’s became the No. 1 organization in baseball and for three straight years, they had MLB’s No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America with Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday all at one time ranking No. 1.

Heading into the 2023 season, Baltimore had eight top 100 prospects per Baseball America.

The O’s rode that wave of young talent to 101 wins and an AL East title. They led the league in wins over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

But none of that led to a single playoff win and the offense that was once humming and one of baseball’s best, is no longer doing so.
