I'm really curious to see how the Orioles respond to the loss last night. Also Mountcastle's injury creates opportunities for multiple players on the team not just for the guys playing 1st base, basically every right handed hitter has an opportunity for a bigger role. Roster construction, playing time, and lineup decisions are going to be interesting from now till the break.
I agree. It’s possible that they get to 87-90 wins. But they have to play at the level they’ve been playing the last two weeks. Last night’s game was a disappointment. It was one we could have won.
Dylan Carlson has been a super pick up. Outstanding defensively and his offense has been great since getting regular playing time. Still a short period but he looks like a keeper.
Outstanding blog Steve. Exactly what I was thinking. Yes there remains a mathematical chance of a postseason appearance, but the needed winning percentage is tantamount to what many of us expected pre-season if not a little higher than that.
Other than injury recoveries, there is no special reason to think the present team really has such performance in them. Don't know just why they are so different than their performance over 2023 and 2024 with largely the same team, but like a good friend always tells me:
"You are what the back of your baseball card says that you are."

It does create opportunities for Mayo to get more time , but it also hinders any chance of trading Mountcastle.
Yes, that has to be in the off season now.

One run!!
I think a decent goal would be at least .500 by the all-star break. That would put them around 5 games or so from a WC spot.
The endless flow of pitching prospects in the lower levels is amizing. One these guys, hopefully a handfull develop into MLB pitchers, 1 or 2 studs.
You gotta believe. We can do it, but it won't be easy. One win at a time is how to play it. Go Birds.
